We haven’t had rain all week, and the water is continuing to dry up from where it had overflowed from the stream last week. Hubby and I went on a hike to see if there were more tadpoles who needed rescuing from the shallow puddles near the stream, and yup, there were a bunch. Here’s a picture of one of the little puddles.

So hubby and I embarked on a Search and Rescue Mission, complete with airlift. That is to say, we scooped tadpoles out of the small, drying puddles and carried them to the main stream nearby, set them loose and told them, “Swim free, become a frog!”
Here’s a rescuee in transit (often, I got lots of mud and leaf matter when scooping a tadpole or tadpoles out of the puddles):

And here he/she is, swimming in the stream.

Here’s a movie of me, rescuing a big tadpole. Watch how he/she leaps off my hand, into the stream:
Hubby got four tadpoles at once!

Here, you can see the tadpoles swim away when he places them in the stream.
And here’s good news: rain is expected over the next couple of days, so the Tadpole Stream should get a boost.

All told, hubby and I rescued somewhere in the neighborhood of forty to fifty tadpoles. Our mission was a success.

Bravo on the tadpole rescue mission. You’ve made a lot of momma frogs very happy!
Woohoo! Soon there will be an orchestra accompanying you on your rambles. They will be singing, thankyou, ribbut, thankyou, ribbut,
Followed breadcrumbs left by Kimmi. So glad you saved those little future frogs! The photos are nice too.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
It’s a shame more people don’t notice frogs in their baby stages. Kudos to you and hubby for helping support the native wildlife. I love listening to the frogs sing on a warm summer’s night!
Heroes, the both of you.
Dawn: *grin*, yes I expect lots of momma frogs are happy their babies are back in the main stream.
Paul: I love it — “thank you, ribbut, thank you, ribbit.”
Angie: Thanks for visiting and commenting! I hope as many of the taddies frog out as possible.
Bobbi: Thanks so much! I love frogsong, too.
Leah: Thank you. It felt good to save their precious little lives.
Gold medal time. That was a successful froggie mission. I see the eyes in these pictures. So exciting. I hope you get enough rain for them to morph into frogs.

Yay, Thomma, Friend of Amphibians!
Hi, Dorothy! Yes, I do, too — I hope so much that we don’t have a drought like we did last summer. That little stream completely dried up last summer, and that would not be good news for the tadpoles. But… *knock on wood*, so far so good with the rain! ((((((((((hugs)))))))))), KS!
hehe, Bunnygirl! I did so much bending and scooping that I made myself sore. Next time, I’m bringing that bucket!
Good for you. My kids used to love to go into the Smokies looking for tadpoles. I miss that:(
Hi, Debbie! Sounds like fun. The Smokies are beautiful.
That’s alot of happy little pre-froggies! Wow, sounds like a great feeling knowing they’ll survive with your help!
May the rains fall n help your little, fragile friends. Great pics too-
Hi, SnaggleTooth! I’m happy to report that we’ve been getting some rain again, so the taddies’ stream is receiving a definite boost.
I love Paul’s comment:
‘They will be singing, thankyou, ribbut, thankyou, ribbut’!
*grin*, Julia — I love it, too: “thankyou, ribbut, thankyou, ribbut!” You ought to check out Paul’s poetry, over on his blog — in a word, brilliant.
How exciting that you got to rescue so many tadpoles! They are so tiny and yet so lively and cute. Thanks for coming to their rescue. Must be very rewarding, the feeling of saving a life. Hope all is going well. Have a great week and all the best to the Ballicai too
…hiker, biker, tadpole rescuer…
Hi. Ailurophile! Yes, it felt so good to save their lives. I’ve been watching them since they were specks in eggs, and I hope as many of them get to become frogs as possible.
The Ballicai and I are having a great week — hope you are, too! Hugs and purrs.
hehe, QS — perhaps I should add “tadpole rescuer” in there.
Wow, you guys are life-savers! Anything to keep mosquitoes at bay.

I’m not sure if you tried to comment a while ago on my blog but I just realized somehow earlier this evening I had turned off my comments for my current post, but all’s good now.
LMAO @ “anything to keep mosquitoes at bay!”
Yippee, I’m glad you received MB today. Hope you enjoy! And I can’t wait to get your CD! I know I’m gonna love it — your music (singing, songwriting, playing) is a delight.
Yeah, I commented on your blog, but didn’t get an error message. I’ll go see if the comment took.
