Most of the tadpoles hang around together in clumps. This one, however, is doing his best to swim upstream, and judging by his Wiggle Factor, you can see how he’s made it farther than any of the others through sheer determination.
This little fellow is going to make a fine, strong frog!
During yesterday’s hike on the mountain, I found a tiny bit of snow left from Old Man Winter’s (hopefully) last blast:

There wasn’t much snow off the mountains, however, and I’m happy to report that our lettuce, cabbage, and onions survived the cold snap. We’ll be planting more garden goodies soon: tomatoes, corn, and potatoes.
The forest is getting greener and greener:

Though I’m more of a cool-weather person, I’ve always enjoyed Spring. But it wasn’t until I began hiking that I fell in love with it. Seeing the forest come to life day by day, by spending a great deal out of time outdoors, I feel a part of it myself.
It’s a blessing I will never take for granted.
Things are going well with Patchwork Stained Glass, my novel in progress. I finished Chapter Three last night, and tonight, I’ll dive headlong into Chapter Four. Like the tadpole above, I’ll do my best to swim, swim, swim upstream with strength and confidence as I build and develop my story.
And thanks so much, Denise, for the shout-out about my debut novel, Mirror Blue! You put me in great company, with Kimmi and her just-released memoir, The Unbreakable Child.
Release day for Mirror Blue — tentatively scheduled for May 1 — is getting closer and closer. Yippee! For updates, watch this space or check out my web site.

I love that tadpole. He (she?) is my hero.
Glad your garden survived and good for you on your writing.
Thanks so much, Leah! And hehe, that tadpole is downright inspiring, isn’t he/she? She could very well be a girl tadpole, but I’m darned if I know how to tell.
Getting inspiration for your writing from the tadpole is very poetic, Thomma Lyn.
*grin*, Julia! Hiking in the mountains provides inspiration in so many ways. It’s one of the very best things I do for myself, on all conceivable levels.
Ooooo, the last lump of snow in the whole of East Tennessee? hee, hee, do think it will be the last? The little tadpole in your video is getting there. Very adventurous little fella. Story time!
May 1 is indeed coming up fast! That’s gotta be a rush…
Hugsabunches, KS.
*giggling*, Dorothy! I love snow, but considering the garden, I do hope that will indeed be the last snow lump for a while.
“The Adventurous Tadpole” — hmmm! Now that could be fun.
May 1 — I can’t believe how fast it’s coming. I feel like I’m in a time warp!
((((((((warm fuzzy hugs)))))))), dear KS!
I’m rooting for that little independent tadpole– and for you, as you cruise through Patchwork. Swim, baby, swim.
Thanks for giving my new lil’ blog a nod. I’m counting down the days to May 1st & sending lots of good wishes your way!
Thanks so much, Denise! Got some work done on Patchwork Chapter Four last night, and I need to slip into party gear — I want to put together a virtual book launch party for Mirror Blue!
I appreciate your well-wishes — back atchya, my friend! Your new blog is fabulous.
Yes, watching the world unfurl little by little, day after day, is amazing, isn’t it?
Tag! You’re it!
Definitely, Susan — I love it.
Thanks, Dorothy! Going to check it out…
That’s one tadpole that, if he doesn’t succeed in his froggy life,it won’t be for lack of trying!
I can hardly believe it’s only three more weeks until your release date!
Hi, Bunnygirl! LOL @ “froggy life”! I’ve never seen such a determined tadpole. Way out away from the rest of them, trying his/her darndest to swim upstream. Spunky little thing!
I can’t believe release date is three weeks away, either. I’ve shifted into party planning mode!
