My elbow and arm are improving; still typing one-handed. I’m making progress on Heart’s Chalice, albeit more slowly. S’okay — progress is progress. But I have to admit, I’ve been terribly spoiled by my two-handed typing speed of 100+ words per minute.
Okay, as promised: a picture post! We got a dusting of snow on our East TN mountains, and nowhere is snow more beautiful than in the mountains.

Here’s the part of the trail I call Laurel Lane.

There was more snow the higher up the mountain I hiked.

And puffs of snow plucked off evergreen leaves sure were tasty!

Lovely. There’s something starkly beautiful and life-affirming about snow on green.
I was driving to the Hoity-Toity Health Club this morning and noticed snow in a wooded area on the way. Tis the season…
Thanks, Leah! I agree, wonderfully life-affirming.
Susan, hehe@ Hoity-Toity Health Club!
Yup, ’tis the season for snow, and as much rain as we’ve had, I’m wondering if we’ll have snow piled up to our eyeballs before long.
we actually had snow the other day, no really there were snow flurries, flurrying in the air.
take care of that arm. I use a voice software
dragon naturally speaking
Hope your RSI gets better soon. I get that if I’m not careful – pain in the butt! I am SOOOOOO jealous of you people up North with the snow thing happening. It is stinking hot in Queensland, Australia – but not just hot, it’s humid like a sauna so you get very slippery when typing. The sort of weather that just makes you want to sleep. Lovely photos, as usual TL.
Thanks, Paige! I’ve thought about voice software, too. It’s definitely a possibility. But dang, can’t use that for playing my piano or guitar… *sniff*
Thanks, Gabrielle. One-handed typing is a lot tougher than I thought, mainly b/c it’s so much slower than what I’m used to, WAH! But at least I can still write, albeit much more slowly. Ugh, sorry it’s so hot in Oz. I’m sending a flurry-filled cool breeze your way!
It’s so fun to see newly fallen snow. There’s just that freshness about it that is hard to describe.
Love the pictures of Laurel’s Lane. Everything looks so beautiful.
Glad you’re taking care of that arm.
(((((((((((((piles of snowball hugs))))))))))))))
Wow what lovely pictures. You sure are blessed to live in such a place. I bet the Ballicai must spend lots of time watching the beautiful scenery from in and around the house. Sorry to learn about your arm. Hope you recover soon and are able to get back to your old writing speed. Perhaps you could try one of those speech-to-text softwares. Not sure how effective they are though. Hope Mirror Blue is doing well in the market. All the best for Heart’s Chalice too. Take care and get well soon
Hi, Dorothy! I love new-fallen snow — the way it looks, the way it tastes, and making snowballs! I’ve been kind of naughty with my arm, alas — one-handed typing is so frustrating. But I’ve got to do better. I was good yesterday — just gotta ratchet that discipline back up. ((((((((((((snowball and fresh snowfall hugs))))))))))))))))
Hi, Omer! I’ve missed you — hope you’re doing well. Yeah, the Ballicai love looking out the windows, and thanks for your kind words about Mirror Blue and my arm. The speech to text thing sounds like a good thing to try, if this RSI persists. Take care, too — and the Ballicai and I are sending hugs and purrs!
Beautiful pictures! That looks like just enough snow, but not too much!
Beautiful! And every snowflake is unique and perfect!
White and green are always perfect together.
I used to spray the fake snow stuff on my Evergreens, but it’s never the same as the real deal.
gorgeous photos, we’ve not had snow yet. Take care of your arm!
Bunnygirl: Right on, a lovely amount of snow. Perfect for pictures, but not enough to create problems.
Paul: Thank you for reminding me that each individual snowflake is indeed a marvel.
J.D.: LOL @ “fake snow stuff!” You made me smile.
Crafty: Thanks! I’m going to rest my arm further by doing some writing longhand on my novel for a little while.
So pretty, Thomma Lyn. Your soul shines in your artistry, as usual.
Yes, we do take our typing and so much for granted, don’t we?
Happy sweetness!!
Xo
Thank you, dear Jannie! Yes, we so take our typing for granted — not too happy about the RSI b/c it also impacts my being able to play piano and guitar. WAH!
So… aside from ‘net activities, I’m going to reduce my typing greatly over the next little while by working on my novel longhand! Hopefully that will calm my symptoms down. One-handed typing doesn’t work too well for me because the one hand starts to hurt almost as much as the initially ouchy hand!
Send good anti-RSI vibes — sending lots of love and hugs, my friend.
xoxo
That trail looks delightful. I can feel its cool crispiness on my face, and the crunchiness beneath my bare feet.
Thanks, Maekitso! It was a delightful hike that day. I love all my hikes, but I especially love to hike in snow.
Lovey pic, (((Thomma))). So sorry about your on-hand-typing. Feel better.

Ah yes, the dreaded RSI. I had one years ago at work, and have been keyboarding with a wrist guard ever since. It also flares up every time I have a baby, for some strange reason – what do wrist nerves have to do with reproduction???
It’s good that you’re taking it seriously, though, because I’ve read of cases where the person lost all use of the hand permanently and had to start using a mouthstick to keyboard.
So pretty the mountain way you present the white stuff! Especially the Mountain Laurel- great that it wasn’t the shovel kind, but stll so inspiring.
We haven’t had any flurries yet- just alot of frost the past few nights.
I tend to go bazerk when I can’t play music, just remember you can always sing n hum accapella tunes! I wrote one that’s in that form on one of those occassions-
Good luck with the long-hand (it’s so slow!)
Thanks, Kimmi! (((((((Hugs)))))))), and I really hope this RSI gets better soon.
Hi, Maya! A friend recommended Kinesio tape, and I might well start doing some taping before long. Taping for typing — very alliterative.
And gads, a mouthstick? I’d have to switch from novels to flash fiction.
Hi, Snaggle! Glad you enjoyed the snow pics — it was so pretty. And I’ve got the music itch something fierce. I love listening to music, yes, but I want to PLAY! And haha, I’ve been singing and humming my brains out. Thank you for the well-wishes. Longhand is indeed so slow compared to typing. I’m spoiled rotten by my computer typing speed (which I’m sure contributed to my RSI during my ferocious NaNo pace).
YAY for snow!! (I’ll be changing my tune in February)
I’m getting that Christmassy feeling now that the ground is white.
Hey – take care of that arm, TL.
I love that first snow, too! And we’ve gotten very little snow for some time, but I wonder if that will change this year, as much rain as we’ve been getting.
Thanks so much, Wylie! I’m trying to baby my arm, and still writing longhand on the WIP.
What a wonderful view! I always have a thing for snow, or maybe because I can’t get enough here where I live. ^^ I love the 1st pic the most: it gives the surreal feeling, like something magical is awaiting ahead.
I really hope you’ll recover soon and can type with both hands again. You seem like a very good novelist and I wish you all the success in the world for your creativity.
Keep writing!

Thanks, Ching Ya! I appreciate you visiting and commenting. Glad you enjoyed the snow pics. I, too, think snow makes the forest look magical.
