Veni, Vidi, Vici

I came, I saw, I conquered.

In other words, I kicked serious NaNoWriMo BUTT!

Official NaNoWriMo total for Heart’s Chalice, my novel-in-progress:  92,417 words.  But that’s only the NaNo count.  The story isn’t finished yet, and I expect to be drafting on through December.

The first draft of Heart’s Chalice is gonna be big.  That’s okay, though — then come revisions, which will trim the novel.  This story will be keeping me busy for quite some time yet, and I’m loving every minute of it — I adore being immersed earlobes-deep in the world of a novel.  I haven’t had a creative rush like this in a long time.  It’s the kind of rush we writers live for.

HOOAH!

And now, back to work. :)

Congrats on an amazing month of writing! Write as long a story as it takes. You can cut later and offer the excerpts as freebies to your readers!

Congratulations on getting so much accomplished in November! That’s alot of wordage swimming- You’ve been sticking to it for so long now- must be refreshing to come up for a breath of air.
Can you imagine if it were really possible to write a novel every month? (Of course finishing them is a trick, too-)

Yeah, I know that feeling. I keep falling into it here and then being pulled out by real life. I DO wish I could crawl into a cave until the thing is done!

‘HOOAH!’ is right! You’re officially my writing hero.

Thanks, everybody! I’m having so much fun with this story. I’ll be drafting for a while longer, then I’ll dive into revisions. As ever, writing, then the rewriting. But this particular story continues to come together almost like magic, which is a joy and a delight. :)

    Impressive, impressive, impressive.

I thought I commented but it either disappeared or I was dreaming (dreaming about blogging?). This is all so impressive and inspirational you have no idea. You are really causing me to think seriously about taking on a larger project that I’ve been thinking about for many years but just haven’t been able to sustain every time I’ve started it. Just witnessing your creative process is such a privilege.

Serious warm fuzzies here, Squirrel, and thank you so much. I’m glad that I’ve inspired you. Your short story challenge has been inspiring me, too, incredibly so, and you know how much I love your work. Whether you write short pieces, novels, or any length in between, you’re one of the most talented, engaging writers I’ve ever read, period. :)

Hooah, indeed! Wow, what a fun time NaNo was this year. I can hardly believe it is over. I’ve been enjoying this novel more than any I’ve written so far. And 92K, that’s a strong finish. Congratulations.

Thanks, KS! Wasn’t NaNo a blast? This has been the best NaNo yet, by far! In 2007, I wrote to get out of a slump, in 2008, I didn’t finish at all, but here, in 2009, I’ve gone a long way toward drafting a novel of my heart. I haven’t felt like this since I was drafting OR (which has since become Patchwork Stained Glass). :)

Congratulations back atchya, dear KS/VWB, and ((((((((((((high five hugs))))))))))))))))!

Yay freaking hoo!!! But why am I not surprised? Oh yeah – you’re Thomma Lyn and you totally kick major butt in oh so many many ways.

So exciting about your creative rush. I had one of those today when I hit publish.

And I have a big big apology for you. I spelled your Lyn as Lynn over on my blog, and I’m so so so so so sorry. Can you ever forgive me. Yet again?

Only but for the grace of you goes I.

Awwww, Jannie — thank you, and you totally and completely kick mega butt in countless ways. And no problem with the spelling thing. It doesn’t matter about the spelling; I always knew you were talking to me. :D

    Love and (((((((((hugs)))))))))), my friend!

I groaned and staggered over the finish line, but over the finish line I went. Just came back from a Thank God it’s Over party with some Wrimo friends.

Thanks, Debbie! Yup, I’m tickled. :) Much remains to be done, but I’m ready and rarin’ to go.

WOW! 92,417?! Excellent, Thomma Lyn! Those creative rushes are sublime aren’t they? Enjoy those revisions and congrats on kicking butt. :)

Thanks, Denise! On yes, sublime’s the word. I’ll be busy with this story for a while yet, but I’ll enjoy every minute of it. :)
