Thanks so much, Squirrel! I’ve been AWOL from the blog ’cause we got a huge snowstorm (rare for our area) and it knocked out power and running water. Just got it back this evening. In the midst of partying like it was 1799 (ha!!), I got some wonderful pictures of snow on the mountains. And re: music, I’m really wanting to work on recording my songs this year and making them available online.

Hi, Dorothy! Thank you so much for your sweet words, (((((((((KS))))))))). “Searching for Avalon”, though it’s well-branded in my mind and heart and I play it regularly, is among the group of my recordings that got lost. Arrrgh. I’m wanting to do completely fresh recordings of all my songs soon, and “Searching for Avalon” will have particularly high priority because of its tie-in to my WIP Heart’s Chalice.

In the last stanza, which you cited, the music shifts to a different key and to a different mood — that of realization of strength and empowerment. I think you’d dig it.

I love the entire piece and each line is synonymous to the events of the day. But this is my favorite part.

“Ship asea, she stands at the prow
Looking ahead, she leaves the here and now
Closing her eyes, unclenching her fists,
Beseeching the sky, she parts the mists
Close behind her the fog will be
But safe and free, she waits for you and me.”

The imagery in this is beautiful. Particularly since I’m working with fog and mist at present.

The quality of your lyrics and poems are remarkable. You’re voice and piano outstanding. I had to go look on my MP3 player to see if I had that one already. Nope, I don’t. But I would like to.

Thank you, Snaggle! A wonderful compliment. I’m still waiting my my RSI to heal enough for me to play the piano, but I’m doing okeydokey typing these days. But when I do get back to my piano, the first song I’ll play will be “Searching for Avalon.”
